Your Questions Answered

Everything You Need to Know

The most common questions about our exterior services, timelines, warranties, and process — answered.

Our Process & What to Expect

How does the quoting process work?

We visit your property, assess the scope of work, take measurements, and discuss your material preferences and timeline. Within a few days we provide a detailed written quote. The price in that quote is the price you pay — we don't add surprise charges after the fact. The only time a quote changes is if you request additional work or changes to the original scope. Request a free quote here.

What is your payment process?

We walk you through payment terms at the quote stage, before any contract is signed — so you know exactly what to expect with no surprises. We never ask for full payment before work begins; our structure is built to reflect our confidence in delivering what we promise.

How far in advance should I book?

For larger projects like a full re-side or steel roofing, we recommend booking at least 4–8 weeks out, particularly in the spring and summer when demand is highest. Soffit, fascia, and eavestrough work and screen room installations can often be scheduled more quickly. Contact us early in the season to avoid delays — our schedule fills up quickly once the weather turns.

Will there be a project manager on site?

Yes. Every PJM Home Advantage project has a single point of contact — a lead who oversees the job from start to finish, coordinates the trades, and is your line of communication throughout. You deal with the same person from the first call to the final inspection — no hand-offs, no 'my colleague will follow up.'

Services & Capabilities

What siding products do you install?

We install James Hardie fibre cement, LP SmartSide engineered wood, and concealed-fastener steel siding. These are the premium choices for Alberta's climate — hail-resistant, dimensionally stable through chinook temperature swings, and backed by strong manufacturer warranties. We don't install vinyl or T1-11; our focus is on products built to last in Central Alberta conditions.

Do you do eavestrough replacement, or only repairs?

Both. We install complete seamless aluminium eavestrough systems — formed on-site to the exact length of each run — as well as repairs, downspout replacements, and system reconfiguration. If your fascia is deteriorating behind the trough, we handle that too. We typically assess whether repair or replacement makes more sense when we're on-site for the quote.

What is a Wizard screen room and do you install them?

Yes — PJM Home Advantage is an authorized Wizard dealer and installer. Wizard motorized screen rooms are retractable screen systems that enclose a deck or covered patio at the push of a button. When deployed they provide a bug-free, wind-sheltered outdoor space. When retracted into the ceiling cassette, they're nearly invisible. They're particularly popular at Sylvan Lake, Gull Lake, and Buffalo Lake properties where mosquitoes and wind make open decks difficult to use.

Do you work on new construction as well as existing homes?

Yes. We work with home builders across Central Alberta on new construction exteriors — siding, soffit, fascia, eavestrough, and steel roofing. Builder relationships are an important part of our business. We understand builder timelines and scheduling requirements, and we integrate cleanly with other trades on site.

Do you serve lake properties at Sylvan, Gull, and Buffalo Lake?

Yes. We regularly work on Sylvan Lake, Gull Lake, and Buffalo Lake properties. Lake homes have specific requirements — moisture resistance, wind exposure, and often properties that are unoccupied for months at a time. We factor these conditions into our material recommendations and installation approach.

Warranties & Quality

What warranties do you provide?

Our projects are backed by two types of warranty coverage: manufacturer warranties on the products themselves (for example, James Hardie ColorPlus carries a 15-year finish warranty; LP SmartSide carries a 5/50 structural warranty; steel roofing PVDF finishes typically carry 30–40 year fade warranties), and our own workmanship warranty on the installation. We provide documentation for both at project completion. If something we installed fails due to our workmanship, we'll make it right.

How do you ensure quality on each project?

Our lead installer oversees the work from start to finish and conducts inspections at each stage before moving to the next phase. We follow manufacturer installation specifications precisely — this matters both for warranty validity and for long-term performance. We don't cut corners on flashing, clearances, or fastener patterns. Our reputation over 20 years depends on the work holding up.

What if something goes wrong after the project is complete?

Call us. We stand behind our work. If an issue arises from our installation, we address it. We've been in Red Deer and Central Alberta for 20 years — we're not going anywhere, and our long-term reputation matters more to us than avoiding a callback. Most issues, if they occur, show up quickly and are handled without drama.

Service Area & Scheduling

What areas do you serve?

Our primary service area is Red Deer and Central Alberta, including Red Deer, Lacombe, Sylvan Lake, Gull Lake, and Buffalo Lake. We also travel for larger projects — if you're outside this area, contact us and we'll let you know whether we can accommodate your project. View all service locations.

Do you work year-round?

For most exterior work, the prime season is May through October in Central Alberta. Some projects — particularly soffit, fascia, and eavestrough repairs, and interior-adjacent work like screen rooms — can proceed in cooler months. Siding and roofing installation require temperatures above freezing for adhesives and sealants to cure correctly. We'll be straightforward about what's feasible in your timeline.
